Velma Allen

The funeral service for Velma Lucille Allen will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Medford First Church of the Nazarene. The Revs. Kevin Gowland and Craig Rench will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park's Garden of Honor.
Mrs. Allen, 74, of Medford, died Wednesday at Providence Medford Medical Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Payette Church of the Nazarene, 239 N. 10th St., Payette, ID 83661.
She was born March 3, 1927, in Tonkawa, Okla., a daughter of Charles and Edith Shepherd. The family moved several times before settling in Southern California. She attended high school in Pasadena, Calif., and moved to the Rogue Valley in 1944 from Pasadena.
On Dec. 22, 1945, in Pasadena, Calif., she married Arthur H. Allen, who survives. During World War II, Mrs. Allen worked in the box factory at Timber Products. She was a lifetime member of the Medford First Church of the Nazarene and was active in Compassionate Ministries at her church.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Bruce D., Medford, and Rev. "Mike" Michael H., Payette, Idaho; two brothers, Gene Shepherd, Anaheim, Calif., and Roy Shepherd, in Montana; a sister, Dorothy McMahan, Medford; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Hillcrest Chapel, Medford
